In 2018, Alt Architecture + Research Associates was invited to present at the Healing Trauma, Healthy Communities Conference (sponsored by SaintA) a healing environment master plan—a study that identified the “at-risk” areas of Milwaukee and located community assets that could collaborate with one another and promote healthier communities. The study lead to a design for a well-being campus in a park in north Milwaukee. The design included: a healing lodge that provided temporary housing and three pavilions that served as a place for peer to peer groups, a pavilion for performance, and a pavilion for commemoration.
