We design architecture as a “tool” for healing, education and community building. Alt Architecture + Research Associates LLC brings together the expertise of architects, behavioral health researchers and project stakeholders. Through our collaborative process of workshops and focus groups we examine the issues and opportunities of each design problem in its unique psycho/socioeconomic context while simultaneously recognizing human universals incorporated into our architectural design. A Healing Environment is a place of integrative healing modalities are offered as tools in a “Healing Tool Box.” It is a place where empathy and compassion are emanated developing trust between participant and healer. A Healing Environment is place where introspection and connection results in human connection on an individual and collective level.
“Healing is one of the prime objectives of the sanctuary space. Anger must be defused, hope instilled and meaning derived from the loss and channeled into constructive acts benefiting both the individual and the community.” Paul Alt
